Our values are at the heart of everything we do. They’re the day to day principles that we live by. We asked people who work here what it’s like. Here’s what they said:
“The ethos here is that we all pull together – there is not one ‘winner’ but a team of people who pull together to be amazing and to succeed”
“It’s like being part of a family, there are people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds all working together and all genuinely looking out for one another”
“The vast experience in the business trickles down to all levels and you can see that in the way we do things: our food, training & service standards are second to none”
And out of this our three core values emerged that were a perfect fit…
Seek Excellence… Genuinely Care… Lead by Example
The drive to succeed underpins our culture. There is a pride in what we do. We have very high expectations – both of ourselves and the teams around us.
At our heart there is a real sense of family where there is trust, nurturing and support. You will be encouraged to reach that little bit higher than you thought possible, but you will know you are supported by people who genuinely want you to succeed.
Wanting to do the right thing underpins everything that we do. There are no egos here, just tons of experience, a real pride in what we do and a commitment to passing on our learnings to create brilliant future leaders.
The facts speak for themselves. Nearly half of our people come from the EU. Many of our brilliant chefs come from outside the UK. Our family is a beautiful blend of different nationalities, ages, beliefs, abilities and outlooks. We pride ourselves on how well we look after our people: equal opportunities, fair treatment and encouraging people to be the best they can be are at the heart of our company values.
We are committed to making sure that every day at work is a good day. However, if you need a little help we are here to support you. All our employees and their families are signed up to Hospitality Action from day one. Hospitality Action offer vital assistance to all who work, or have worked within hospitality in the UK. There’re there to give help, advice and support, whatever the challenge – from physical illness or mental health issues to financial difficulty, family problems to addiction.
Doing the right thing extends beyond how we treat our people. We only work with the most trustworthy and reputable suppliers who share our ethics and our intention to ‘do the right thing’. We know exactly where the food we serve comes from. We support good causes both local and national – giving something back to the communities in which we operate is important to us. We recently asked our people to choose a charity to work with, the overwhelming response came back as the Marine Conservation Society in support of the work they do to keep our environment healthy, pollution free and protected.
We are proud to be members of the sustainable restaurant association who promote an environmentally restorative and socially progressive UK hospitality sector. The SRA works to define sustainability for the sector. It campaigns for and celebrates change & our founder Raymond Blanc is proud to be their Chairman.
The Marine Conservation Society is the UK’s leading marine charity. They work to ensure our seas are healthy, pollution free and protected. We share their vision for seas full of life where nature flourishes and communities thrive.
We recognise that we all have a role to play in ensuring we use energy responsibly and minimise our environmental impact. We are working on initiatives to raise awareness and embed engagement on carbon reduction and environmental sustainability into our day to day life.
